SkyDogCon 2013 Badges

The SkyDogCon 2013 Badge

I don't know how I missed this video, but Brett Thorson did an awesome job showing off the SkyDogCon 2013 badge in all its awesomeness!  Just figured I'd post it up with some pics from last year's CON that show all the hard work that went into making them.  If you don't know the story, come to next year's CON and we'll tell you all about how one of the coolest electronic CON badges ever made was fraught with peril and near disaster!

Kudos!

Just a quick shout out to Redvers Davies and Chad McFall who did so much work to make these badges come to life.  Also a shout to those who helped including Mad Mex and so many others!

CON Video Rig Page

While I'm sitting here late at night rendering video from this year's SkyDogCon, I figured I'd take a minute to standup a new page on my site called "Video" to document some of the equipment, etc., we use to capture all the CON video.  The demand over the past year for IronGeek or myself to come record videos for security conferences has been overwhelming and it is hard to say no!  That said, I've promised to do this since SkyDogCon 2013 and have absolutely failed to deliver.

A quick disclaimer, there are new devices coming out all the time and you may find something that meets your needs better.  Let me know what you find!

I'll try to do some updates and provide some more detail on each component's configuration to save you guesswork when assembling or configuring your CON video rig.  If you have questions hit me up on Twitter or email.  Until then here is a video from SDC2013 with IronGeek, SkyDog, and myself all talking about video rigs, etc.

Upcoming Presentations

Its been quite awhile since I've published a blog post, but I've frantically been working on research for a few presentations.  That and wrapping up from BSidesLV and DEFCON.  So, I'll have some slides/materials coming soon, but here are a couple talks coming up.  Hope to see you there!

Hacker Halted: Zombies on the Airwaves

October 16-17, 2014 (Speaking Friday)

50 years of obsolesence hasn’t taught us anything apparently! Get prepared for a modern day “War of the Worlds” on a scale Orson Wells couldn’t have imagined! We’re going do show you vulnerabilities in the Emergency Alert System that will allow you to create your very own emgergency. We’ll show you the tools, the technology, and the joke that is the EAS. Don’t laugh too hard! The EAS and this talk just might save you from the undead!

SkyDogCON: Zombies on the Airwaves...Continued

October 24-26, 2014

Hacker Halted is about zombies and analog hacking via RF...SkyDogCON will be about digital and hacks against the new network based EAS architecture from FEMA and DHS called the Integrated Public Warning and Alert System (IPAWS).  This one is just so much fun...really...its even more hilariously sad than the RF hacks.  Come join and you too can join in on the fun!
